Privacy Policy

Soon: Countdown ("the app") is a countdown app for Android, published by Hugo Software. Your countdowns stay on your device. We operate no server, no account system and no user database, and we collect no personal data about you.
The app does show advertising to users on the free tier, and advertising works by processing some device data. That part is described in full below, because it is the one place where data about you leaves your device.
Your countdowns stay on your device
Everything you create in Soon — event titles, dates and times, emojis, categories, themes, notes, location labels you type, any photo you attach, and your archive of past events ("Memories") — is stored only on your device, in the app's local storage.
Soon has no sign-up, no login and no cloud sync. We never receive, upload or look at your countdowns or your photos. A photo you attach to a countdown is read from your device and kept locally; it is not transmitted anywhere.
This also means we cannot restore your data. If you uninstall the app, it is gone permanently.
Your preferences — chosen language, dark mode, onboarding state, subscription status and a cached copy of our configuration file — are likewise stored locally only.
Advertising
Soon is free to download, and the free tier is funded by advertising. The app uses Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to show banner and interstitial ads.
To serve and measure those ads, AdMob may process:
- your advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID / app set ID)
- your IP address, and approximate location derived from it
- device model, operating system version and language
- ad events such as impressions and clicks
This processing is carried out by Google, under Google's privacy policy. AdMob is the only SDK in Soon that collects data about you. We receive no personal data from it — only anonymous aggregate revenue reporting.
Premium subscribers see no ads at all, and no ad requests are made for them.
Your consent choice
Before any ad is requested, Soon runs Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you will be asked whether you consent to personalised advertising, and your choice is stored on your device.
You can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the privacy options inside the app. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID entirely in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
No analytics, no crash reporting
Soon contains no third-party analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. We do not profile you, build a user profile, or track you across other companies' apps beyond the standard AdMob behaviour described above. We never sell personal data and we operate no marketing list.
Network activity
Apart from advertising traffic, the app makes only two kinds of outbound request:
- A periodic fetch of a small configuration file (feature settings such as the free-tier limit and displayed prices). No identifier and no personal data is sent with it, and we do not log it to identify or profile anyone.
- Google Play Billing traffic, handled by Google Play services on your device, to check your subscription status.
Permissions
- Internet — required to serve ads and fetch the configuration file.
- Photos / media — requested only at the moment you choose to attach a photo to a countdown. The image you pick never leaves your device.
- Notifications — used only to remind you that a countdown is ending, if you allow it.
Subscriptions and payment
Soon Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play, offered as a yearly or monthly plan with a 3-day free trial. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never receive or store your payment details, card number or billing address. Your subscription status is read from Google Play on your device; we keep no purchase records on any server.
Children
Soon is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. It contains no social features, no chat and no public user content.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives only on your device, you are in full control of it: delete individual countdowns in the app, use the in-app reset, or uninstall the app to remove everything. We hold no copy anywhere, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. See the data removal page for details.
To stop ad-related data collection, withdraw consent in the app's privacy options and reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
Note that uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel in Google Play > Subscriptions.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you rights of access, correction, deletion and portability over personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or erase. For data processed by Google through AdMob, please refer to Google's privacy policy and to your device's ad settings.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version is always available at this address.
